Department of Sociology, Goldsmiths University of London offers a PhD scholarship for three years for her PhD in 2011 for academic periods of their candidate that has the ability and potential to enhance research in the field of sociology.
Department of Sociology at Goldsmiths, University of London, is pleased to announce a three year PhD scholarship in sociology, is available from October 2010 or January 2011. The PhD scholarship is open to home and overseas applicants, and includes fees and an annual salary at the standard rate of UK Research Council (currently £ 13.590 pa). We accept applications from those who have been accepted into this program if they meet the scholarship criteria.
Scholarships will be awarded to an exceptional candidate who has the potential to increase the profile of the overall research departments and / or contributed significantly to the work of a research group within the department. Research in the Department is focused in six groups: Race, Religion, Ethnicity and Nationalism; World Cities, Economic and Social Exclusion, Culture, Gender and Social Life, Politics, Rights and Globalization; Life-sciences, Medicine, Technology and Health.
Applicants must hold, or expect to have achieved a master’s degree (distinction or service) by the time the scholarship begins. A master’s degree in social research methods is not mandatory, but would be highly desirable. As part of the scholarship, the successful candidate will be expected to carry a light teaching and administrative duties, usually in years two and three.
